Inside the $13.5M Luxury Home Purchase by Barrio Queen's Co-Owner

A newly built Paradise Valley estate has set a new standard in Arizona luxury real estate, selling for $13.5 million — or $1,616.76 per square foot — an unprecedented price west of Tatum Boulevard. The buyer? Public records show it’s Steven G. Rosenfield, co-owner of the popular Barrio Queen restaurant chain.

Built by Phoenix-based luxury developer DNP Homes, the 8,350-square-foot estate boasts commanding views of Camelback Mountain and the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Listed originally at $14 million, the home spans 1.075 acres and is a masterclass in resort-style living.

DNP Homes owner David Purewal emphasized the property's custom craftsmanship: “Every house is our baby until the next child is born,” he said. “From the colors and textures of the European tiles to the views of Camelback Mountain captured from every room, we put a lot of focus on the details to make it as luxurious and timeless as possible” (Business Journal, 2025).

The estate includes four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a 50-foot infinity-edge pool, a walk-in wine room, a four-car climate-controlled garage, and a fully equipped back kitchen. Purewal’s wife and the home’s designer, Melis Cohen, who has a background in hospitality, infused the interiors with a high-end resort ambiance.

Some of the Italian imported fixtures featured in the home had never been used before in the Valley market, according to Paul Aazami, the real estate broker representing the seller. “He had that equation with his designer, who happens to be his wife... a lot of the areas feel like you're in a resort. It's your personal resort,” Aazami explained (Business Journal, 2025).

Purewal is currently in Italy sourcing new materials for future projects in Paradise Valley, signaling more groundbreaking builds to come.

More Record-Breaking Sales Across Scottsdale and Cave Creek

The luxury real estate wave didn't stop in Paradise Valley. Aazami also represented the seller of a home at 9820 E. Thompson Peak Parkway in Scottsdale's exclusive DC Ranch community. The home, listed at $12.5 million, sold for $7.89 million at auction — an astonishing $1,300 per square foot, setting a new community record.

Meanwhile, another unique property designed by the Dorrance family, the visionaries behind DC Ranch and Silverleaf, sold for $4.63 million. The 5,700-square-foot main house and 2,700-square-foot guest house sit on five acres in Cave Creek — part of a 25-acre Equestrian Ranch. “In its own class it broke the record for its age and lot size and area within 85255,” said Aazami (Business Journal, 2025).

These sales reflect a rapidly evolving ultra-luxury market in the Valley, with developers and buyers pushing boundaries in style, quality, and price.
